The Noble Goddamned War

These things have value in my eyes

Its 4.15 a.m., and I’m watching ‘The Fantastic Four 2’, reading the Spider-Woman comics, and eating a bowl of Frosties. I’m super-awesome.

I think I’m becoming one of *those* fangirls.  I just saw the Avengers, again, I took my seven year old nephew, and like, my Chris Evans FEELS are insane.  Not Captain America Feels.  Chris Evans Feels.
He’s amazing in the movie.  And no one’s talking about HOW AMAZING HE IS IN THE MOVIE because everyone is talking about either his glorious, glorious ass (oh my god, his ass in 3D IMAX was worth the piece of admission alone, but that’s not the point) or they are talking about RDJ or HIddles or something.
Since he’s not doing press with the rest of them, none of his co-workers are talking about how amazing he is, cause he’s not sitting right next to him, so they don’t feel the need to play act to the cameras or blow smoke up the other’s ass.
I just feel like, it’s so, so, so damn hard to be the straight man, to be the level headed one, or the quiet one, in a room with all these personalities and egos and yet, there’s Evans, as Captain America, knocking it out of the park with every single fucking scene, because he’s not emoting ANYTHING yet he’s emoting EVERYTHING cause Cap is CLEARLY IN SUCH PAIN and yet he just SOLDIERS ON because that’s WHAT HE DOES and I just want someone to ask him if he’s okay, god damn it.
I’m like, is this how those crazy fangirls feel about Tony/RDJ and Loki/Hiddles?  (Yes, I use slashes, cause they are the same person, just one is fictional on screen and the other is just play acting for the interviews and trying to sell you on going to see their product.  Both are fictional.)
I don’t care.  I just want people to respect Evans.  He was brilliant in this movie.  Captain America 2’s going to be incredible, I just know it.  If Evans brings this level of quiet intensity and controlled anger to the role, it’s going to be mind-blowing.  Okay.  I don’t know him, and I love him.
And if I could meet him, I would tell him that: You are Steve Rogers.  Maybe even more than Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark.  You were the guy that no one wanted — for the role — and in the end, you were the only one that could do it.  Thank you for bringing Steve to life, in such a complete, a whole, depiction.

My favourite part of the whole movie isn’t all the Hawkeye or the scene of Loki and Hulk or anything else.
It’s the scenes at the end where Steve is getting the absolute SHIT knocked out of him and Evans shows you how much he’s hurting but how faithful Steven is to the fact that he has to keep fighting.
THAT is worth seeing it.
Again.

He gets back up.  He ALWAYS gets back up.
I think that’s why Natasha and he are my favorites in the movie.  I love the moment when she’s huffing and puffing and has this ‘I’m going to die from a heart attack’ look on her face.  But then she takes a few deep breaths, and realizes it’s this is getting her NO WHERE so she needs another form of attack.  That’s brilliant.
And then, it’s Steve.  Steve is left alone to hold the ground and do crowd control.  He’s the TEAM LEADER and BATTLE FIELD GENERAL and what’s he doing at the clilmax of the film? Crowd Control.  Saving and protecting the innocent.
I love it.  And Evans plays it with such a quiet determination.  None of Evans scenes are big.  He always reels it in.  He always plays Steve ‘close to the chest’.  It’s glorious.

BLESS THIS POST.
I would like to add my voice to the chorus of Chris worship. I’ll admit I didn’t really know him before I saw Avengers - I hadn’t seen Captain America, and he was kind of just another pretty face on Tumblr (I’M SORRY BABY I WAS SO WRONG). But he bears so much gravitas as Cap, shifting from barely-suppressed rage and grief (his intro scene) into misdirected lashing out (at Tony) to composed, competent soldier, and you believe the crap out of him in every scene. I’m particularly in awe of how he looks so cold during the scene when he’s trying to rip Tony to shreds. Something about how his face tightens, his eyes narrow, makes you realize that this is a dangerous guy who’s carrying an enormous burden of pain. Then after he and Tony have saved the Helicarrier, his body language in the next scene with Tony is so different - the casual way he leans against the wall, the lack of aggression in his posture - all of it saying “I’m sorry” and “let’s work together” without any explicit dialogue at all. It’s quite simply marvelous.
Not to mention his comedic skills are delightful! “I understood that reference.” “Son. Just don’t.” “Hulk? Smash.”
Well done, you beautiful man.

Am I a bad Glee fan if I think that Vocal Adrenaline should win Nationals?

They were in a new city, again. Philadelphia. It had been almost a full week since Blaine had stopped speaking to Sebastian. Sebastian would have called it a fight, but that implied that both people were mad at each other, and that was not the case at all. Blaine was mad at Sebastian, Sebastian was lonely and missing his friend.
